Greek Buffet for 100

Greek Buffet for 100

This was a stateside reception for a family wedding that took place in Greece.

The appetizers during the cocktail hour consisted of all the unique ingredients in Greek fare: Feta cheese marinated in lemon, garlic and oregano, rustic bread to dip in the marinade, a white bean dip with fresh herbs and pita crackers, marinated olives .

We passed trays of warm Tiropita or cheese pie, that was a lot like Spanokopita without the Spinach- something the guests seemed to find refreshing. The Tiropita was rich and flakey with a cheese filling that included feta and a touch of lemon.

The buffet itself consisted of :

· A delicious Mediterranean Pasta salad, bursting with fresh herbs and cherry tomatoes- made by the sister of the bride (and we will be acquiring that recipe post haste.)

· Chilled grapes and sliced watermelon and olives.

· All the elements to make your own Gyro- Pita bread, Tomatoes slices, Red Onion, Tzatiki Sauce and a choice of Gyro meat (seasoned Lamb) or Chicken Souvlaki (Grilled chicken kebabs in a lemony garlic marinade.)

· Dessert was an assortment of cupcakes.

What fun to share a little taste of a wonderful event that took place a world away…memories of sunny days, sea breezes, sunset cruises and many great meals with friends and family- Opa!
